Sichos HaRan
Rebbe Nachman's Wisdom

by Reb Noson of Nemirov

Appendix B
A History of This Work

Both Shevachay HaRan (The Praises of Rebbe Nachman) and Sichot HaRan (Rebbe Nachman’s Wisdom), were first published by Reb Noson a few years after Rebbe Nachman's passing, as an appendix to Sippurey Maasiot. They were written for a generation that was intimately familiar with the Rebbe's contemporaries and surroundings.

In calling the first part Shevachey HaRan rather than the more grammatical shivchei, we are making use of the normative pronunciation favored by most chassidim.
