Rebbe Nachman’s Works

Likutey MoHaran

Rebbe Nachman’s magnum opus. These are Rebbe Nachman’s major teachings most of which were delivered when his chassidim came for scheduled gatherings (Rosh HaShanah, Shabbat Chanukah, Shavuot, etc.). There are a number of shorter pieces as well. Not light reading.

Aleph-Bet Book (Sefer Ha-Alef Bet, aka Sefer haMidot)

Rebbe Nachman’s first work, a collection of aphorisms on the various character traits, positive and negative, as well as other aspects of the spiritual life of the Jew. The first part was written when he was in his youth; the latter part was written when he was already well-known. Upon seeing one of his followers holding this work Rebbe Nachman remarked, “My dear beloved friend, my dear loyal friend. This made me a Jew.”

Advice (Likutey Eitzot)
pdf version

An abridged selection of the practical guidance contained in Likutey MoHaran. Rebbe Nachman instructed Reb Noson to collect from Likutey MoHaran an abridged version of anything which had relevance to practical action.

Rebbe Nachman’s Wisdom (Shevachey HaRan and Sichot HaRan)

Published several years after his passing, this work contains Rebbe Nachman’s most oft-quoted teachings. Its subjects range from simple everyday advice to the most esoteric Kabbalistic mysteries. The first part of this work contains a number of stories about Rebbe Nachman’s childhood and his pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

This is a revised edition of the print version of Rabbi Nachman’s Wisdom With God’s help a pdf version is being made.

Rabbi Nachman’s Stories (Sippurei Maasiot)

Perhaps Rebbe Nachman’s most famous work, the stories are captivating, moving, amusing, even startling. Their purpose, however, is to arouse people from their spiritual sleep by using the most powerful weapon of all: the hidden secrets of Torah.
