The Stories Page

Rebbe Nachman told a lot of stories. Some of them are pretty famous and have been translated into English and other languages.

Rebbe Nachman lived in Ukraine, which is in Eastern Europe. The Jews who lived there spoke Yiddish among themselves and so Rebbe Nachman told the stories in Yiddish. Some people who knew Yiddish and other languages told the stories and they got around till they were translated into all different languages.

Some of the stories are not so famous, but they’re pretty cool anyway. Someone put them in a book and some other people translated them. And we translated them too. If you want to read some of the stories from a book check this out. If your mother or father want to read them, they should look here.

With God’s help some stories will be up by the end of July. Hope to see you back here!

What you need to watch the stories

You need a program called “Flash” (version 4.0 or 5.0). If you don’t have it on your computer, it can be downloaded for free from Macromedia.

How to get around in the stories

The Reward for Loyalty
Never Lose Hope
The Lost Princess: Part I
The Lost Princess: Part II
Big Berel Outsmarts a Robber
The Fixer

On each page of a story you’ll see a light green arrow pointing right. That means “go to the next” frame/page of the story. You’ll also see a little circle with two arrows—dark green—pointing left. That means “go back” one frame/page. Clicking on the word “step” does the same thing as the two-arrows. (The arrows may change colors from story to story, but you’ll know what to do.)
Sometimes it might be slow moving from one frame to the next, but don’t go away. When the story is over you’ll know—it says “The End” or there’ll be a menu.
