Dvar Torah for Parshat Shekalim and Rosh Chodesh
In honor of Parshat Shekalim:
I heard from the Rebbe that the time for giving charity for the Land of Israel is in the month of Adar. (Tzaddik #562)
This way for more on Parshat Shekalim .
In honor of Rosh Chodesh:
The force which draws all the worlds to return to God has its root on Rosh Chodesh (the New Moon). On Rosh Chodesh the desire to return to God is felt throughout creation. Even the sinners in Hell cannot escape a certain feeling of contrition. They are drawn a little closer to God and feel a flicker of regret. They are forced to acknowledge the truth and feel ashamed of their wrongdoing. (Advice; based on Likutey MoHaran I, Lesson #10:9)
Help me to come to perfect teshuvah. Let me not leave this world until I have repented of my sins and made amends for all the wrong I have done, whether in thought, word or deed. Help me draw down the light of perfect teshuvah from its root–Rosh Chodesh–as we have learned from Your true tzaddikim.
Let me always celebrate Rosh Chodesh with great holiness. You have given Your people Israel twelve New Moons as a time for atonement in every generation. On each one, let me draw down the light of teshuvah from its root, so that I will come back to You in true, perfect teshuvah. (Likutey Tefilot I, #10 [near the end])
agutn Shabbos!
