Dvar Torah for Parshat Beshalach
Based on Likutey Halakhot, Birkat Hamazon 4:12
Do you know why Hashem (God) is proud of you? Because you never
give up your desire to be a better Jew.Doesn't matter how many times
you get knocked down or out-you keep getting back up.
Exodus 15:1-2,17
"I will sing to God for He has triumphed over the proud"
This refers to Hashem's pride in overcoming the "Egyptians,"
the obstacles and challenges they face.
"Horse and rider He threw into the sea" The "horse
and rider" are all the lures, seduction, desire and confusion
that each Jew faces daily.
"My strength and song is God; this is my deliverance"
The crux of the deliverance and triumph over obstacles is the
holy brazenness and stubbornness that a Jew exhibits.
"This is my God and I will glorify Him; my father's God-I
will exalt
Him" 'Glory' and 'exaltation' refer to God's pride in our pressing
ahead to succeed in coming closer to Him.
"Until Your people passed over,..."
The Song was sung in order to be worthy of entering Eretz
Yisrael, the Promised Land. The first step in making that journey
is the
revelation of God's pride in your stubborn refusal to give up the
desire to being a better Jew.
