Dvar Torah for Parshat Chayei Sarah

"Sarah died...Avraham came to eulogize Sarah and wept for her" (Genesis 23:2).

Once the Baal Shem Tov said, "If my first wife were alive, I would ascend on high in the middle of the day, in the market place, in front of everyone, not like Eliyahu [the prophet] who ascended in the desert!"

Once Rebbe Nachman said, "If I would have known the importance of a first wife, I would have told [mine], 'Be sick if you must, but live!'"

I've been trying to puzzle these out for a while, but still haven't come up with much (except that anyone who has a first wife ought to pray hard that she lives a long life, preferably one that is happy and healthy). Hope you'll have more success figuring something out at your Shabbos table or at the kiddush in shul. Please let me know if you do.
