With God's help, Sunday evening before the second day of Selichot,
5590.
I received your letter, my beloved son, and I was all prepared to
travel today, but the carriage driver fooled me. He hired his coach
today for a short journey and said he would return any minute. I ended
up stuck here the whole day. But all that God does, He does for the
best, even if we do not understand how at first. I do not think I
will travel now by way of Tulchin. I have trust in God's kindness
and I am certain you will be there at Rosh HaShanah, with God's help.
Do not forget to bring to Uman at least the money that Reb Shimshon
promised. If you can, bring what Reb C.Sh. promised as well. If you
can also get him to come to Uman himself, good for you and good for
him! because God values our Rosh HaShanah very much. Nothing is more
exalted. Beyond this, peace, life and may you be written and sealed
for a good year.
