Yours )
#105
With God's help, Tuesday, 13 Nisan, 5593.
My dear, beloved son.
I just now received your letter. Everyone is very busy right
now and I do not know with whom I will send this letter. But I decided,
given my love for you and your intense desire to receive my letters,
to prepare the letter now and then to have someone inquire after a
traveller who can take it today, tomorrow or on Chol HaMoed, God
willing. God will do what is good, because everything is with amazing
Divine Providence.
I spoke last Shabbat about this Providence, which is the essential
force behind all miracles and redemptions, especially the First
Redemption,
the Exodus from Egypt which took place on Pesach. I discussed it
all
in terms of the lesson "When the Holy One, Blessed be He, remembers
His children" (Likutey Moharan I, 250). This is
the reason that the Shabbat preceding Pesach is called the Great
Shabbat, because all miracles and wonders are drawn from the end
of
time, the day which is all Shabbat, as expressed in the verse, "the
end is coming, the end." You can look it up there in the lesson
where it is all explained. This is why it is called the Great
Shabbat. It is in accordance with what is implied in the verse:
"Tell
me about all the great acts that Elisha did" (2 Kings
8:4). This is the concept of "crying two tears into the great
sea" (Berakhot 59a). Look it up there.
Afterwards, God helped me in His amazing lovingkindness and
I
suddenly danced a long time by myself. It was all perfectly spontaneous.
All through His salvation and amazing providence. For all that happens
with us every day is by no means a trivial matter and every person
has to remember this every single day. And Mashiah will explain
the
meaning of what happened to him every day. It is necessary to remember
this and to remember it well every day. Thanks and praise to the
Living
God that He provided us with the remedy before the illness arrived.
Because we know about such an amazing lights of lights, the
like of whom has never before existed! Do not forget all the kindnesses
that God has done for us in this regard. It is an answer, a comfort
and a cure for everything that confronts you every day. Just watch
yourself and guard your soul carefully that you do not forget what
you have seen with your mind's eye and what your ears have heard
from
the day that you became aware of all this until today.
It is good to thank God Who has helped me thus far to write
you
things such as this, even now! It is fitting for you to bring yourself
to joy over this on this holy festival, the season of our freedom.
Fortify yourself determinedly to fill yourself with joy, especially
on Shabbat and the holy Yom Tov, with all methods of joy! Watch
yourself
vigilantly lest the fact that you may not be as happy as you could
does not itself become a source of sadness and depression for
you. Do not allow the joy of the holiday to become a burden. Just
accustom yourself to being a free man, because, thank God, we have
someone who is performing on our behalf all the tikkunim [spiritual
rectifications] we need at all times. It is incumbent upon us to
joyfully
praise the Master of All that we have been able to know about the
one who is engaging in the rectification of our souls for
all eternity. You have already heard a lot of advice about how to
banish sadness and to strengthen yourself in joy. May God send you,
and me, salvation to be worthy of truly attaining the joy of Yom
Tov
and of making a completely new start, from this point on, in drawing
close to God now and forever, Amen.
The words of your father writing with the haste of Pesach.
